nothing on the agenda.

Weekends of nothing are the best. Our only agenda was to rest, love, and experience. It is definitely good for the soul to escape to a place with little cell phone service, no technology, and only family to entertain.

Sunday night after Rick and the guys finished putting the final touches on their upcoming album, the three of us headed out to Spring Valley Ranch. Emery woke up from the car ride as soon as we pulled in. She had a burst of energy even though it was hours past her bedtime.  We stayed up late, giggling and watching her dance to our singing.  Then, we snuggled into bed.

We woke up to a cool, cloudy summer morning. It was beyond perfect. Emery pranced in the meadow while Rick and I kept an eye on her from the hamock. She gathered sticks and collected rocks. No toys were necessary.

Once the sun came out, we put on the sunscreen and went for a ride up in the hills. We followed the endless trails while pointing out every butterfly.

We headed down to the valley to cool off in the river. Rick hopped in the canoe and paddled downstream to the rope swing while Emery and I waded in the shallow water.

Soon it was nap time. We laid out a blanket under a tree and fell asleep to the leaves rustling in the wind.

This was the perfect little get-away for us. Several "firsts" were added to Emery's book. She is always ready for a new adventure.

Hope you had a lovely Memorial weekend.  Happy Tuesday! xoxo!
