breakfast & art.

The past couple weeks, Rick and I have made it a family goal to start going to bed earlier to wake up earlier. I'm starting to believe all those sayings like "the early bird gets the worm" and "early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise" are true. We are happier. We get more done. We have more time to do what we love. It isn't rush, rush, "watch out-here comes mom" on our way out the door. We smile, listen to music, talk to the Lord, drink our coffee, and love on each other before the day even starts. It really is quite lovely.
This morning, Emery and I grabbed the paint brushes and headed out to the front porch. We watched the cars drive away for their morning commute and enjoyed the Southern California like weather. Her art skills have improved over the summer. She does little scribbles of paint here and there of various colors. I'm collecting her artwork on pieces of canvas and plan to hang them once we move into our new offices at work.
I've also been pinning inspirational pictures for my sister's upcoming baby shower and am getting started on party-prep. I plan on doing a spin off of this for party favors. There are so many pretty ways to create party favors with clothespins and brown paper sacks - extremely versatile and super inexpensive.
Hope you have a lovely Monday! My plan this week is to accomplish more of my dreams. xoxo!
