This morning, I sat down at my computer to read through my emails. My mom will typically send out an email every few weeks to keep me and my sister updated with their schedule. My brother is ten, so they are constantly on the go from activity to activity.
This time, she included a link to their Pastor's blog to keep us updated on what's going on at our home church.
I sat reading, tears began to fall as I learned what the Lord is doing there.
Emery walked into my office. "Mama, you ohh kay?" "Yes, baby. Mommy is happy. Jesus is so good."
I was born and raised in this church, baptized, spent many many days there and learned a whole lot about Jesus. Rick and I were married in this place. They threw us a baby shower for Emery. This church is and will always be so dear to our hearts in the good and bad times.
As a teenager, I would sing, "salvation spring up from the ground" and "oh, God, let us be a generation that seeks Your face." My prayer life would consist of asking the Lord to captivate the hearts of the residence of Ponca City. That my friends at school would realize how truly amazing and good the Lord is. That the people in this town would know the peace and hope and purpose that I experience in knowing Jesus. That it's not about being perfect, because I'm not, but its about knowing the One who is.
And to read this this morning makes my heart so happy! and I don't believe this is the last blog post I'll be reading about salvation coming to the hearts of those in our home town. Jesus is in the business of changing lives and changing them for the good.
As a child, I remember singing a verse of "This Little Light of Mine" by saying "Let it shine all over Ponca City, I'm going to let it shine." I teach that to Emery now, but we say Tulsa. :)
So all to say, Jesus is so good. I love seeing Him captivate hearts, no matter the city or place. Life gets rough, it gets messy, and there are days that I want to give up. BUT - I have a purpose, I have a reason to be confident, I have a passion for life and for love, I have hope - these are the things that keep me going, these are the things that put a smile on my face, these are things that make life beauty full :) and it all begins with Jesus.
